Gyumri-Yerevan Electric Train Collides with Truck, Injuries Reported
The electric train operating on the Gyumri-Yerevan route collided with a truck of the FAW brand that was crossing the railway tracks under unspecified conditions on April 15. This was reported by the press service of the South Caucasus Railway.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the truck, a passenger in the truck, and a passenger on the train sustained injuries. "The collision at the uncontrolled crossing section of Karkert-Dalarik caused the train to derail, resulting in significant damage to the company, which will require assessment," the report states. Train traffic was halted for several hours, leading to disruptions in the train schedule.
Investigative bodies have opened a criminal case regarding the transport accident with serious consequences. The South Caucasus Railway extends its apologies to the passengers affected by the incident, which was beyond the company's control. The company once again urges drivers of motor vehicles to adhere to traffic rules when crossing railway tracks.
