Five-Story Building Catches Fire in Dubai: Casualties and Injuries Reported

A five-story building caught fire in the old district of Dubai, resulting in at least 16 deaths and 9 injuries, as reported by The Associated Press citing local authorities.

According to a man working nearby during the fire, the blaze broke out on Saturday afternoon. He told AP that there was a loud explosion reminiscent of a gas cylinder igniting, followed by a thick plume of black smoke.

According to him, at that time, people were sleeping in their homes, which is typical during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan when believers refrain from eating and drinking from dawn until dusk.
