Restrictions on Ukrainian and Russian Airspace to Remain Until 2029, Eurocontrol
The European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) argues in its forecast for air traffic in the coming years that restrictions on civil aviation flights in the airspace of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova will remain in place at least until 2029.
The agency concluded that the aviation industry in Europe has yet to fully recover from the coronavirus pandemic, and additional problems are arising due to the conflict in Ukraine.
Ukraine's airspace has been closed since February 24, 2022, and Eurocontrol reports that these restrictions are unlikely to be lifted even seven years later. Experts have noted that only 80% of the usual airspace is available to European carriers for flights.
