Did Azerbaijanis Knock on the Door of a Fallen Soldier's Home? The Sisian Mayor Comments
Recently, media outlets reported that one of the Azerbaijani soldiers found in Armenia visited the home where Anna Hakobyan had been just a month prior.
"It is noteworthy that Azerbaijanis knocked on the door of the house of Gor Gasparyan, who was killed in the 44-day war, a home that only a month ago was visited by the Prime Minister's wife, Anna Hakobyan, along with his daughter. The incident is not considered a mere coincidence in the community, and various hypotheses are being discussed," reported Hraparak.
Since yesterday, some reports indicated that they had entered the Mathevosyan home, but Auroranews contacted the mayor of Sisian to clarify the situation. He stated, "Well, let's accept that it is related to the Gasparyan name—so what?" He remarked on the suggestion that if an Azerbaijani indeed went to the home of a soldier fallen in the 44-day war, one might infer they have not lost their way or have come for reconnaissance to spread panic, saying, "That is not for you to decide. You, who delve into these matters, should think more about the harm you are causing to the country."
It is surprising that in this situation, the mayor of Sisian is attempting to blame the media outlet that was trying to verify the veracity of the circulated information. Notably, it is not due to the media that Azerbaijanis have ended up in Armenian territory; one of them is still at large.
