Help Alen Simonian: Journalist Organizes Fundraiser

Yesterday, it was made known that the court ordered journalist Ani Gevorgyan to collect 150,000 AMD in favor of Alen Simonian. Currently, the journalist is conducting a fundraiser near the National Assembly under the title “Help Alen Simonian.”

Recall that the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has upheld the lawsuit of Alen Simonian regarding honor and dignity against Ani Seirani Gevorgyan, with the third party being News AM LLC. The court's decision is final and cannot be appealed.

The court has ordered Ani Seirani Gevorgyan to publicly refute the allegedly defamatory factual statements in the following manner: to place a statement on the website www.news.am, and in the case of impossibility, to make it available on the defendant's personal page of Facebook in a manner accessible and visible to all, for a minimum of five working days or in a printed press with a circulation of at least five thousand copies under the title “Refutation” and with the following content: “On April 16, 2021, in a video posted on the YouTube channel entitled 'hayeli am', and on the websites news.am and hayeli.am, the statement made by Ani Seirani Gevorgyan regarding Alen Simonian, that he has ordered a crime against me and targeted my minor child, does not correspond to reality.”

The court also ordered Ani Seirani Gevorgyan to pay 150,000 AMD to Alen Robert Simonian as compensation for damages due to defamation, 100,000 AMD as reasonable attorney’s fees, and 7,000 AMD as state fees paid in relation to the satisfied portion of the claim.
