Healthy Food to Be Provided for Children in 10 Regions of Armenia: Zhanna Andreasyan

The Armenian government, in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), is implementing the "Sustainable School Meals" program in 10 regions of the country, providing healthy food to over 100,000 children daily. This was stated today by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, during a meeting with a delegation led by Corinne Fleischer, Director of the WFP's Regional Bureau for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe.

The Minister welcomed the guests and addressed the cooperation with WFP within the framework of the "Sustainable School Meals" program, emphasizing the importance of effective implementation of the program in regional schools of Armenia. "We also want to implement the Sustainable School Meals program in Yerevan. Numerous studies have been conducted to understand which model would be most efficient for implementing the program in the capital. Thanks to years of fruitful cooperation with our partners, we can now state that the key objectives of the program have been achieved, which are to unite community efforts and ensure healthy food," said the Minister.

She also mentioned that, in collaboration with partners, school cafeterias have been renovated, and infrastructure has been improved as part of the program. According to the Minister, the possibility of expanding the program is being considered. Zhanna Andreasyan informed Corinne Fleischer that the implementation of the "Sustainable School Meals" program in Armenia can be considered successful, and the tangible experience gained could serve as an example for other countries.
