Reimbursement for Tuition Fees Will Be Provided to Students in Distance Learning

The Government of Armenia has made amendments to the regulations regarding tuition fee reimbursements (full or partial discounts) and state scholarships for students in higher education institutions. This information was announced by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.

According to the current regulations, full or partial tuition reimbursement is available to students belonging to certain groups, who study in accredited higher education institutions in Armenia, where places for full tuition reimbursement are provided by the state in various specializations.

Education in Armenia's higher and postgraduate educational programs is offered through face-to-face, distance learning, and remote education methods. Currently, distance education is being provided only by the Academy of Public Administration of Armenia and the Scientific-Educational International Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

The government decision will create a legislative basis for providing tuition reimbursement to students who are learning through distance education.

Current legislation does not allow foreign citizens of Armenian descent, registered and living in the regions of Nagorno-Karabakh, Georgia's Samtskhe-Javakheti, and Kvemo Kartli to obtain full tuition reimbursement based on high grades through a competitive process. The adoption of this decision will enable the aforementioned citizens to receive benefits for full tuition reimbursement based on competitive criteria, considering their high academic performance.

Additionally, the decision has made corrections in several other issues within the existing regulations.
