Pope Francis Proposes Two-Week Ceasefire in Ukraine for Easter Celebrations
Pope Francis has proposed a two-week ceasefire in the combat zones of Ukraine, coinciding with the Easter celebrations, starting from April 9. This was reported by the TASS agency, referencing a conversation with Leonid Sevastianov, the president of the Worldwide Council of Old Believers.
“Next week is the Easter week for the Catholic world, followed by the Easter week for the Orthodox. The Pope just told me that in honor of this, he proposes to cease all military operations in Ukraine for two weeks. That is, starting this Sunday, there should be no attacks at all, and a ceasefire should be declared,” Sevastianov stated.
He also emphasized that this matter is very important to the pontiff and requested to announce it on his behalf.
