Several TV Companies May Go Bankrupt or Shut Down by Year-End: Tigran Hakobyan
The Chairman of the Commission on Television and Radio, Tigran Hakobyan, considers the situation of broadcasters to be dire. This was stated by the chairman during a session in the National Assembly, according to Aravot.am.
"The real situation of broadcasters, especially in the public multiplex, is catastrophic. I do not rule out that by the end of this year, several TV companies may go bankrupt, shut down, or sell off, with some foreign players also expressing interest in the sale," Tigran Hakobyan said.
He noted that in the case of a sale, broadcasters are required to present to the commission who the new buyers are, what capital they have, and whether they are prepared to fulfill licensing obligations.
