Demolition Works at Yerevan Flour Mill Site Were Illegal, Urban Development Agency Reports on Metro Incident
Demolition works carried out at the Yerevan Flour Mill LLC site have been deemed illegal as the permit for dismantling expired on March 7. Following that date, any demolition activities are considered unauthorized, stated Elena Zohrabyan, head of the information department of the Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Body, in a conversation with Sputnik Armenia.
It is important to note that on April 1, during the demolition of the bunker located at 2 Nar-Dos Street in Yerevan, debris fell onto the metro lines, which caused the suspension of metro operations.
“Representatives of our inspection body visited the site and found that on September 9, 2022, a permit had been given for demolition works at Yerevan Flour Mill LLC by the municipality. These works were supposed to be completed within six months, which has not been done. The municipality must ensure proper oversight of the construction permit and demolition or dismantling activities it has granted,” Zohrabyan said.
