US Not Seeking Conflict Against Iran After Strike in Syria, Pentagon Spokesman Says

The United States is not seeking to escalate the conflict or war against Iran following a strike on a coalition base in northeastern Syria. This was announced by Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder during a press briefing on Friday.

“We are not seeking conflict or war against Iran,” he stated, adding, “Our objective is the definitive defeat of the Islamic State. But if our people are threatened, we will respond appropriately and proportionately,” Ryder emphasized.
