About 70 Injured Due to Earthquake in Iran

At least 68 people were injured as a result of a 5.6 magnitude earthquake that struck the city and region of Khoy in Iran on the morning of March 24. This information was reported by the Mehr news agency.

The tremors occurred at 6:46 AM at a depth of 8 kilometers. The shocks were felt in nearby major cities, including Urmia, the capital of West Azerbaijan province, as well as Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan province located in northwest Iran.

According to preliminary data from the Iranian Red Crescent Society, the 68 injured individuals sought medical assistance at hospitals. It is also reported that cracks have appeared on the walls of buildings in seven villages of the Khoy region and the neighboring Salmas district of West Azerbaijan province.
