David Khachakyan, the head of the "Lusavor Hayastan" faction in the Yerevan Council, believes that the authorities were not displeased with the former mayor of Yerevan, Hrachya Sargsyan.

"Hrachya Sargsyan's resignation over the last 9-10 years was in calm circumstances, where looking for intrigue is unnecessary, and he was not removed, but announced his resignation based on his objectives," Khachakyan said during a conversation with reporters.

The council member expressed satisfaction with Sargsyan's work. He does not share the opinion that Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan is a shadow mayor. "I believe the problem for society is that from the very first day Hrachya Sargsyan was elected, or from the moment Tigran Avinyan came to the municipality, an attempt was made to present that everything was done by one person's decisions. This is the reason why you today do not understand why Hrachya Sargsyan resigned. You did not imagine that Mr. Sargsyan had a significant role in the governance of the city," Khachakyan stated.

He also noted that he will lead the list of the "Lusavor Hayastan" party in the upcoming council elections.

We should recall that Hrachya Sargsyan submitted his resignation today. The secretary of the mayor's office, Seyran Mejlumyan, also left with him. He will be replaced by the first deputy mayor, Levon Hovhannisyan.
