Video: Man Storms Armenian Church in Jerusalem in Attempt to Cause Damage
In Jerusalem, an unidentified man entered the Church of St. Mary and attempted to cause damage and desecrate sacred objects. This information was reported to Sputnik Armenia from its sources in Jerusalem.
The incident occurred this morning.
A video sent to the news outlet from Jerusalem shows law enforcement officials apprehending the man who committed vandalism. He was subdued by Armenian staff members of the church.
Preliminary information indicates that the man who stormed the Armenian church is a radical Jewish believer.
It is worth noting that the Church of St. Mary is under the jurisdiction of the Armenian and Greek churches.
Recall that on the evening of January 28, two Jewish extremists attempted to obstruct traffic in front of the Armenian Patriarchate as they were headed to the Wailing Wall, shouting, “This is our country, go back to your country!” at Armenian youths returning home from work. One of them sprayed tear gas, and both fled the scene. Police later located and arrested the Jewish extremists.
About an hour after that incident, another group of Jewish extremists attempted to climb onto the roof of the Armenian Patriarchate to remove the cross and the flag of Armenia.
