VIDEO: 'Is it even allowed to walk in the park?' Police approached a woman sitting in the park and demanded to see her personal belongings

Yesterday evening, a video surfaced online showing how two police officers approached a woman sitting in a park and demanded she open and show the contents of her bag. The incident took place in one of the parks in Norq. During the encounter, two more police officers joined the initial officers. The woman stated that she had come to the park to take a walk, and then she was approached by police officers with the demand to inspect her belongings.

The woman asked, 'I must have looked like a very suspicious person, right?' One of the officers replied, 'Everyone in the park is suspicious,' and added that they were looking for something specific and were conducting heightened security measures.

The police found nothing and left. Details can be seen in the video. 'An internal investigation has been initiated by the order of the police chief regarding the mentioned incident,' said Zarmand Gabrielyan, head of the Public Relations and Information Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in a conversation with Auroranews.am.

When asked whether the actions of the police officers were within the law and their assigned authorities, Gabrielyan noted that they will clarify that with the internal investigation, and that we should send a written inquiry for answers to those questions.
