Video: Petrosyan Threatened Police and Fled the Scene

It has previously been reported that former MP Gevorg Petrosyan was detained the day before. Petrosyan's lawyer, Raffi Aslanyan, provided details about Petrosyan's arrest and released a video. The police of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement regarding the arrest of the former MP Gevorg Petrosyan. The statement does not specify who was the driver of the vehicle, but both the timing of the incident and the model of the vehicle, along with Petrosyan's lawyer's statement and the released video, leave no doubt that the statement pertains to Gevorg Petrosyan.

"On March 11, around 21:00, officers from the Kotayk battalion of the patrol service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noticed a 'Mercedes' vehicle on the Abovyan-Yerevan highway, which was being driven erratically. Near the Northern bus station in Yerevan, the driver of the 'Mercedes' did not comply with the patrol's legal demand to 'stop' made through a loudspeaker and continued to drive erratically. The patrol pursued the vehicle, during which multiple demands to 'stop' were issued again," the statement detailed.

"On Tsarav Aghbyur Street in Yerevan, the vehicle was forcibly stopped. The driver issued threats and fled the scene. Continuing the pursuit, the patrol officers again forcibly stopped the vehicle on the same street. The driver refused to undergo a sobriety test and threatened the patrol officers. The driver was arrested and taken to the Nor Nork division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A criminal case has been initiated.
