Iran Creates Ballistic Missile Surpassing Sound Speed by 8 Times
Iran has announced the creation of a hypersonic ballistic missile capable of destroying moving maritime targets. This was reported by Fars News Agency on March 7. The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, stated that the missile tests have been successful, making Iran one of three countries with such weaponry.
He claims that the missile's speed exceeds sound speed by eight times and has a range of 1,500 kilometers. Bagheri emphasized that possessing such a missile will allow Iran to establish a security zone in the surrounding seas with a radius of up to 1,000 kilometers.
No information was provided regarding the location or timing of the tests. It is worth noting that last November, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps' Air Force, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, announced that Iran had developed a new ballistic missile.
