Relatives of Fallen Soldier Block Gyumri-Yerevan Highway: What Are Their Demands?

Relatives of soldier Palayan Poghosyan, who perished in a fire last July, have blocked the Gyumri-Yerevan highway. The soldier’s father, Jivan Poghosyan, stated that they are demanding a meeting with Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.

It is noteworthy that six months ago, a fire at a combat position in Syunik claimed the life of their 19-year-old son, Palayan. He sustained burns from a fire that erupted from a stove located in the wagon-type cabin designated for soldiers' rest. Palayan was hospitalized for ten days and passed away without regaining consciousness on the last day.

As of now, there is no accused in the criminal case initiated regarding Palayan Poghosyan's death, and the results of the forensic examination have still not been disclosed. The parents are dissatisfied with the progress of the preliminary investigation and demand that the relevant authorities clarify the current status of the criminal case. They are insisting that Defense Minister Suren Papikyan come and provide answers.
