Russian Girl Lost in Yerevan Amazed by Armenian Teenagers

“I have topographic stupidity. This is the condition where you have to walk about 600 times to remember a route, and if nothing changes on the 601st time, you can get from point A to point B without problems. If a new store appears halfway, everything is lost. I lived in Moscow for 10 years, and now I’m living in Yerevan,” wrote Natalia Nechayana, who moved from Russia to Yerevan, sharing her story on her Facebook page.

She specifically noted that around 10 PM her phone ran out of battery, and because of the aforementioned condition, she couldn’t find her way home in Yerevan without a map. Lost and confused, she encountered a group of Armenian teenagers on the street. Natalia knows only two words in Armenian: “hello.”

She approached the children and asked for help to find her home. The boys didn’t have a map on their phones, but they didn’t leave Natalia helpless. They accompanied her, trying to locate her address. Along the way, a group of Armenian girls joined them to assist their grandmother. Next, another group of children came along. Through their combined efforts, the teenagers brought Natalia closer to the building where she lives. However, since the building has several entrances, they helped her find the correct one.

Natalia was amazed and astounded: “The Armenian teenagers didn’t ignore me; they could have, and that would have been normal.”

Amidst this, the protagonist of the story recalled that when she was 12 years old in Russia, she accidentally boarded the wrong minibus. She became lost and asked the driver for his phone to call her mother. The driver simply refused to help her, leaving her helpless.

After this comparison, in her post, Natalia also recalled the devastating earthquake in Turkey and the assistance sent by Armenia, while in 1915, Turkey perpetrated genocide against the Armenian people, and in 2020, aided Azerbaijan in the 44-day war.

“Armenians are the best people in the world,” Natalia wrote. “If one day I decide to engage in politics, my slogan will be ‘Let’s turn all the people in the world into Armenians.’ And that would make a lot of sense,” Natalia concluded.
