Bodies of Newlyweds Found the Day After Their Wedding, Relatives Have Doubts
On February 8, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in the Gevorgyan family. According to "Hraparak," the family is from the Achuuryan community in the Shirak region. Three years ago, Davit Gevorgyan and his fiancée, Elmira Hakobyan, got married. After the wedding, the couple went to Dilijan for a vacation, renting a room on the first floor of a private house, where their bodies were later found.
Family acquaintance Ms. Aida states that the investigation in the first instance has not concluded for three years and is constantly postponed for various reasons: “The newlyweds' bodies were found in the bathroom, in a naked state, but there was no water in the bathroom. We know that the water had been frozen; there was no water. We had no information about the kids, as they weren’t responding, so we called the homeowner for information. She went to knock on the door, and after that, she became unreachable. After that, the investigator responded to our call.”
According to our interlocutor, a thorough investigation was not conducted, and the incomplete case was sent to court by the investigator: “The homeowner blames an internal worker, that is, the gas supplier, for not identifying the deficiencies. They claim that the kids died of gas poisoning, that they suffocated. But when there was no water, why would they be in the bathroom? The house had natural gas, and a homemade stove was installed. We suspect that the kids suffocated in the bed and were then moved to the bathroom to blame the gas specialist. This is not a deliberate murder; it’s an unfortunate incident, but it did not happen in the bathroom…” The homeowner is so ungracious that she hasn’t offered a single word of condolence.
The person who rented the room has the status of a witness, while the employee is the accused: “They are all free, the trials are ongoing, but you know how it is: they schedule the hearing days, they arrive from Gyumri to Dilijan, and the hearings do not take place.”
