Gunshots After Wedding: One Participant Hits Two Women with Car
On February 23, gunshots were reported in Yerevan. Around 11:15 PM, several citizens informed the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia’s operational management center that gunfire had been heard near the 'SAS' supermarket on Kievyan Street, and a white vehicle had hit two pedestrians.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, while police and investigators were working at the site, the Armenia Medical Center reported to the Arabkir Police Station that they had admitted two citizens who stated that they were injured after being hit by a vehicle.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan city police and the Arabkir police station identified the injured as 25-year-old Kristina S. and 90-year-old Tzovinar Sh., both residents of Yerevan.
While doctors were providing necessary medical assistance to the victims, the police conducted urgent operational measures and found that the injured were taken to the hospital from near the 'SAS' supermarket at 1 Kievyan Street.
According to G. Shamshyan, investigators determined that participants in a wedding ceremony at the 'La Vista' restaurant complex at 1 Kievyan Street—27-year-old Karen Minasyan, 37-year-old David Burnazyan, and 38-year-old Narek Dabagyan—had argued with 29-year-old Andranik Asatryan, a resident of Yerevan, 20-year-old Edgar Asatryan from the Ararat region, and 25-year-old Hakob Manukyan from the Gegharkunik region over personal matters.
The disagreement escalated into a fight, during which they exchanged insults, grossly violating public order. During the altercation, K. Minasyan fired shots from a gas pistol he had on him, then got into his Opel vehicle and drove away erratically, hitting Kristina S. and Tzovinar Sh., before fleeing the scene.
Upon reaching 16 Komitas Avenue, he fired additional shots and then returned to 1 Kievyan Street. Police found a damaged Mercedes vehicle at the scene, which, according to operational information, had been struck by K. Minasyan's Opel.
At the scene at 1 Kievyan Street, officers found one bullet casing, the Opel and Mercedes vehicles, and broken flower pots. Additionally, dirt was discovered on the windshield of the Opel, which, as per reports, had spilled from the flower pots when angry individuals threw them at the Opel.
The aforementioned individuals have been presented by the Arabkir Police Station to the Investigation Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee in Yerevan's Arabkir Investigative Division.
