New Details on the 'Hammer' Driver Case: Investigative Committee Submits Petition to Court

The Investigative Committee has submitted a petition to the court to choose detention as a measure of restraint against the driver of the 'Hammer' vehicle, according to reports from the Investigative Committee.

Recall that on February 10, around 11 PM, the driver of the 'Hammer' model vehicle grossly violated traffic rules in the center of Yerevan, failed to comply with the lawful demands of police officers, and drove the vehicle toward police officers and citizens, engaging in actions that posed a danger to their lives and health. To stop the vehicle's movement, firearms were used to shoot at the tires.

On February 11, a criminal case was initiated in the investigative department under Article 297, Part 3 (hooliganism) and Article 452, Part 3 (interference with the lawful professional activities of a public official) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, and Article 264, Part 2, Clause 5 (intentional damage to property), with reasonable suspicion of drug possession. A resident of the village of Ararat in the Ararat region, identified as G.S., born in 1997, has been arrested.
