The Number of Armenians Killed in Turkey's Earthquake Reaches 15
The number of Armenians killed in the earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6 continues to rise. Currently, it stands at 15, as reported by Ermenihaber.
In the city of İskenderun, there had been no news for a long time about Armik, Mesrop, and Tagun Balıkyan. It has now been revealed that they perished under the rubble. Also from the same area, Paytsar Silahlın has been reported dead.
Diyarbakır musician Zilan Tigris and her husband, Çağdaş Çankaya, have also lost their lives.
Johanna Carolyn, who had traveled to the city of Adıyaman for a tour, has become a victim of the earthquake as well. Her funeral will take place on Tuesday at the Armenian St. Vartan Church.
Three Armenians died on the very first day of the earthquake in Malatya. Sami Tabash and Aida Tabash were also among the victims, with one of their sons, Alex Tabash, passing away in the hospital. They have been buried at the Armenian cemetery in Malatya, with the service conducted by Father Grigor Damadyan who arrived from Istanbul. The body of Maryam Karataş, who died as a result of the second earthquake, was also found among the rubble of Malatya.
In Antakya, another Armenian citizen, Antoine Horoz, was reported dead.
