Kadyrov on Pope Francis: 'He is a very old man, someone told him to say that'
Chechnya's leader Ramzan Kadyrov has stated that he was not offended by Pope Francis's comments regarding the brutality of Chechens, noting that the Pope is "a very old man." The information was reported by RIA Novosti.
"He is a great man, one could say, an old man; someone has told him to say that. It is clear that he is not an independent person. Because what he allows today is not accepted anywhere in religion, he goes against religion. If he goes against religion, then how can we discuss it if he says such things about us?" Kadyrov said in an interview on the '60 Minutes' program on the Rossiya 1 television channel.
According to Kadyrov, "warriors are the kindest people because they sacrifice themselves for others."
"He simply does not understand this; he has lived in some monastery all his life, or I don't know where he has lived, and what is happening in the world, what life is like, what life values are, I think he has forgotten. Therefore, I am not offended by him; he is too old for me to be offended," Kadyrov added.
