Can a Teacher of Retirement Age Be Dismissed After Changes to the Labor Code? The Ministry of Labor and Social Issues Responds

The Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Labor and Social Issues is addressing questions raised by citizens regarding labor law. In particular, they respond to the question of whether a teacher of retirement age can be dismissed following changes to the Labor Code.

"Comprehensive changes to the Labor Code are expected, which will stipulate that the termination of an employment contract cannot be conditioned by age. It should be noted that the draft has been approved by the Government and submitted to the National Assembly. After its adoption by the National Assembly, an employment contract cannot be terminated based on age at the initiative of the employer," the ministry clarified.
