The Intensity of the Earthquake in Turkey Equivalent to 500 Atomic Bomb Explosions

The intensity of the earthquake in Turkey has been compared by Turkish authorities to the explosion of 500 atomic bombs. Following the earthquake, over 2000 aftershocks have been recorded and continue in the southeastern part of the country.

“The overwhelming majority of these have been above 4 on the Richter scale,” stated Orhan Tatar, the Director General of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority.
