Two Lawyers Recognized as Victims, Forensic Examination Appointed: Gor Abrahamyan
The spokesman for the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Gor Abrahamyan, responded to media inquiries regarding the incident of violence against lawyers.
A report was received by the Investigative Committee from a lawyer stating that on February 9, 2023, during an investigative action carried out within the framework of a criminal case, a group of individuals used their official powers to commit acts of violence against him and another lawyer while performing their professional duties.
At the same time, a report was also received from two employees of the Armenian police regarding the two lawyers hurling sexual insults at them and other police officers, showing open contempt, and committing acts of violence during the incident.
Based on these reports, a criminal case has been initiated in the main investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Articles 490, Part 4, Points 1 and 2, and Article 297, Part 2, Point 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
The two lawyers have been recognized as victims, and a forensic examination has been appointed. All necessary measures are being taken within the framework of the initiated preliminary investigation to objectively clarify all circumstances of the case and to legally evaluate the actions of all participants.
