Salaries of Certified Educators in Extracurricular Education to Vary
A proposal has been made to implement a mechanism linking the professional development and remuneration of personnel in the extracurricular education sector, which would allow educators to receive additional compensation from the state budget if they achieve satisfactory results in certification.
Depending on the certification results, the additional payments will vary: an increase of 80,600 drams will be set for scores between 70-79%, with the educator receiving 60,000 drams after taxes. For scores between 80-89%, an increase of 111,500 drams will be set, with a net payment of 80,000 drams. For scores between 90-100%, the additional payment will total 138,300 drams, with the educator receiving 100,000 drams after taxes.
This information was shared by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan during the discussions of proposed amendments to the law on education at a session on February 10, as reported by the National Assembly's press service.
Initially, teachers of piano and music theory from music and arts schools, as well as coaches-educators of freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, sambo, and judo from sports schools will have the opportunity to apply. A second round of certification is also planned within the year, which will provide additional opportunities for others to participate.
The minister believes that starting next year, the system will be fully operational, allowing for certification applications and participation. "We aim to implement and complete this system efficiently and smoothly by 2026-2027, and to provide educators the opportunity to raise their salaries from eight hundred thousand to one million drams," emphasized Sisak Gabrielyan, chair of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth, and Sports in the related report.
