Engineers' Chamber in Marash Stands Firm Amidst Surrounding Ruins

The president of the Turkish Chamber of Electrical Engineers, Mahir Ulutaş, shared a photograph of the building of the Provincial Representation of the Chamber of Civil Engineers in Kahramanmaraş, which survived two major earthquakes that struck the Elbistan and Pazarcık districts, causing widespread destruction across 10 provinces and thousands of buildings.

On his Twitter page, Ulutaş noted that most of the surrounding buildings of the Chamber of Civil Engineers had collapsed. He highlighted that even in the aftermath of such significant earthquakes, it is possible to construct buildings that can withstand such events, thanks to 'engineering' and 'science.'

With the photo of the building that remained standing at the epicenter of the earthquake, Ulutaş stated: 'The building depicted in the photo is the Provincial Representation of the Chamber of Civil Engineers in Kahramanmaraş. No words are necessary. Science and engineering are sufficient for constructing structures that survive even during such catastrophic earthquakes.'
