Civil Contract Party MP Appeals to Authorities for Leniency on Davit Tonoyan
According to reports from the 'Haykakan Zhamanak' newspaper, MP Vilen Gabrielyan from the Civil Contract Party has approached the political authorities requesting a change in the measure of restraint for former Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan and asking for leniency towards him. The matter is that Davit Tonoyan has been in custody for nearly one and a half years, despite not accepting the charges against him.
“Previously, we reported that Vilen Gabrielyan and the former minister are friends, and the MP has reasons to act this way. We tried to clarify the information personally with Vilen Gabrielyan regarding whom he specifically appealed to—whether to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, perhaps to Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, or maybe to CP MP Andranik Kocharyan. In response, he stated, 'What I have, I have said in the public arena. I have not approached anyone regarding his case.'
This means that he did not publicly admit to having requested leniency for Tonoyan, but in reality, he did appeal.
