VIDEO: Educational Process Disrupted in Artsakh Due to Gas Supply Disruption

The educational process has been disrupted in certain schools in Artsakh due to the interruption of gas supply from Armenia to Artsakh by Azerbaijan. Starting from February 7, the educational process for pre-school groups and grades 1-8 at gas-heated public schools has been temporarily halted, while classes for higher and graduating grades in gas-heated schools will not be suspended.

“The educational process for grades 9 to 12 will not stop; they will continue to function normally. It is very important for us to complete the educational process on time for these graduating classes. They must finish the curriculum planned by June 1, because 9th graders are expecting final exams, and 12th graders have their unified state examination,” said Acting Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Hasmik Minasian.

In eight schools in the capital, preparatory work has begun since yesterday in the more suitable rooms on the first floor facing the yard to install wood-burning stoves and implement wood heating. Five classrooms have been allocated in the basement of School No. 2 in Stepanakert for grades 9 to 12.

“We started yesterday, and today we have already installed two, and we will install more; we are waiting for the wood to be delivered. After us, it will be Shushi's turn. We will light the stoves at 8 in the morning so that it is warm by the time the children arrive,” said Armen Harutyunyan, the deputy director for economic affairs of Stepanakert School No. 2.

Acting Minister Hasmik Minasian stated that the missed classes will be compensated for during the spring break, and if necessary, classes will continue until June 1.
