Over 7,700 People Killed in Devastating Earthquake in Turkey and Syria
The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria has reached at least 7,726, according to CNN.
Turkey's Vice President Fuat Oktay reported that so far, at least 5,894 people have died in the country, while 34,810 have been injured.
He noted that 16,139 people are currently conducting search and rescue operations in the disaster area.
More than 70 countries have sent rescue teams and other assistance to the affected areas.
The Syrian state news agency SANA reports that at least 812 people have died in the government-controlled provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Idlib, and Tartus due to the earthquake.
According to CNN, at least 1,832 people have died in Syria, with 3,894 injuries reported.
