Death Toll from Earthquake in Turkey Approaches 6000
The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey has reached nearly 6000. This was reported by Sputnik Turkiye.
According to the report, 5894 people have died in Turkey, while in Syria, the death toll stands at 1250.
It is recalled that a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck southeastern Turkey on the night of February 6. Its epicenter was located 26 kilometers from the city of Gaziantep, which is home to more than one million people. The tremors were felt in neighboring Syria and several other countries, including Russia.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced a national day of mourning in the country until February 12.
