Militants Escape from Syrian Prison Following Earthquake

At least 20 detainees suspected of being members of the Islamic State terrorist organization have escaped from a prison in Syria following an earthquake, TASS reports.

According to the agency, the prisoners were being held in a facility near the town of Rajou, close to the Turkish border. The prison houses approximately 2,000 inmates, of which 1,300 are believed to be militant terrorists.

The detainees organized a riot and took control of part of the facility.

The prison's building was damaged as a result of the earthquake.
