Stop This Terror: Protest Outside the EU Office

Women in Yerevan are joining the call of mothers from Artsakh directed at Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission. The mothers from Artsakh have urged this influential European figure, a mother of seven herself, to help put an end to the energy terrorism in Artsakh and to address the humanitarian crisis.

In a show of solidarity and support for the just demands of the women from Artsakh, a group of women has initiated a peaceful protest outside the EU Delegation in Armenia. “This is an initiative of unity and solidarity. We are here to personally deliver the letter from the women of Artsakh to the head of the EU Delegation, Andrea Victorin, and to ask her to pass the letter on to the President of the European Commission, making the voices of Artsakh mothers heard. For over fifty days, the children of Artsakh have been subjected to hunger, cold, and deprivation of schooling and kindergartens. Stop this terror; do not allow Azerbaijan to hold 30,000 children captive; do not become complicit in Azerbaijan's crimes,” stated Araxy Grigoryan, a participant in the protest, addressing representatives of the EU Delegation through a megaphone.

One of the initiators read the letter directed to the President of the European Commission in English, stating, “We are dying of hunger and freezing right before the eyes of the whole world. We are under siege by Azerbaijan, which is stealing our gas and electricity. This is pure energy terrorism. We can endure a lot for the sake of our children, but we need urgent assistance and we need a voice. We will not let them silently kill our children. We write to you as the most powerful woman in the world, but also as a mother who loves her seven children and deeply cherishes her precious family. From the depths of our hearts, we urge you to stand with the women and children of Artsakh and do everything possible to prevent Azerbaijan from continuing its brutal blockade.”
