Intoxicated Youth Assault Police Officers in Office

The Investigation Committee of Armenia's Lori Regional Department has uncovered details of a case involving the interference of three individuals in the official activities of police officers. This was reported by News.am.

According to the investigative body, on January 31, 2023, around 10:00 PM, in the office designated for the patrol service of the Police Department in Tashir, residents aged 31 and 33 from Tashir city and a 28-year-old from the village of Saratovka, while in an intoxicated state, began to argue with a junior patrol officer of the National Police of Armenia. The argument erupted as they attempted to obstruct the officer’s administrative report concerning their friend’s suspension of the right to operate a vehicle.

They reportedly used profanity against the officers and then resorted to violence, delivering numerous blows to various parts of the officers' bodies using their hands and feet.

Based on public criminal prosecution initiated by the investigator, charges have been brought against the three men in accordance with Part 3 of Article 452 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. They have been detained as a preventive measure.
