Reports have emerged that the death toll from the recent earthquake in Syria has reached 237, with 639 individuals injured, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

Simultaneously, the Armenian newspaper 'Gandzasar' reports on its Facebook page that the strongest tremors occurred in Idlib, Aleppo, and Latakia. According to the publication, there are also Armenians among the victims. Several buildings have collapsed, and rescue operations are ongoing.

It is noteworthy that powerful earthquakes occurred today in Turkey and Syria. Turkey reports 76 fatalities and over 400 injuries, while earlier reports from Syria indicated 42 deaths and more than 200 injuries.

“According to our information, two Armenians have died in the Azizieh district of Aleppo, one is in the hospital, and one person is still under the rubble. A mother and son have died; the father has had his leg amputated and is now in the hospital, while efforts are underway to rescue a daughter from the rubble. The earthquake lasted a very long time; everyone went out into the streets. I myself just moved to a new house, and the walls have been damaged,” stated Nerses Nersoyan, the president of the Syrian Armenian Charity Association, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
