Driver in Intoxicated State Pushes Patrol Officers, Pulls Camera, and Attempts to Flee with Threats
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation in the third department of the Central and Norq-Marsash administrative districts of Yerevan to clarify all circumstances surrounding another incident involving interference with the legitimate official activities of police officers on Saryan Street, Yerevan.
According to a report from the Investigative Committee, at 03:25 on January 29, 2023, two officers from the patrol service stopped a "Mercedes" vehicle on Saryan Street in Yerevan. Approaching the driver, the officers requested the necessary documents. However, the driver, being under the influence of alcohol, refused to comply with their legal request, pushed one of the officers, grabbed a camera, and, while issuing threats, attempted to flee the scene.
During this time, the passenger in the vehicle, who is the driver’s brother, attempted to obstruct the officers' legal actions to detain and arrest the driver.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 452 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old resident of Yerevan, has been arrested on suspicion of intervening in the legitimate official activities of the police. Based on the initiated criminal prosecution, he has been charged with committing an unlawful act as specified in Part 1 of Article 452 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. A preventive measure in the form of a prohibition from leaving has been imposed on the defendant.
