VIDEO: Illegal Transport of Gold Jewelry Worth Approximately 480 Million Drams to Turkey and UAE Prevented

In recent months, employees of the Customs Enforcement Division of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia have uncovered cases of exporting gold chains without declaration during monitoring of passengers on high-risk flights.

As a result of the conducted monitoring efforts, nine instances of illegal transport of gold by individuals from Armenia to third countries, mainly Turkey and the UAE, were prevented, amounting to a total of 22.7 kg. The weight of one gold chain involved in the violation varies around 2.5 kg, with a value reaching 52 million drams.

Based on the facts, protocols were prepared regarding violations of customs regulations according to Article 316 of the Law on Customs Regulation of Armenia. The materials have been forwarded to the Legal Department of the State Revenue Committee for further proceedings.
