Wildberries in Russia Threatened with Recognition as Foreign Agent
Wildberries, the largest online retailer in Russia, could be recognized as a foreign agent due to the sales of books by Mikhail Zigary, Dmitry Bykov, Yekaterina Schulman, Evgeny Ponasenkov, and Alexander Nevzorov, without the required labeling. This was reported by Mash on Monday.
According to the Telegram channel, the online retailer's management has received an official warning from Dmitry Gusev, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma's Audit Committee. He stated that if the market continues to ignore the law and neglect the requirements for labeling foreign agents, they too would face similar designation.
According to Mash, Wildberries intends to heed Gusev's recommendation, although initially, they reportedly tried to attribute the issues to the usual mistakes of content managers and copywriters.
