Explosion in a House on Street 35 in Lori Province: Condition of Woman Hospitalized is Severe

The condition of the woman hospitalized due to an explosion yesterday is assessed as severely stable, and she continues to receive necessary medical assistance. This was reported by the press service of the Vanadzor Medical Center.

"The woman was admitted to the Vanadzor Medical Center by ambulance on January 22 at around 20:45 in an extremely severe, shock state. A traumatic subtotal amputation of the right upper limb was discovered, accompanied by profuse bleeding, first and second-degree burns on various parts of the body, and injuries to the upper jaw and upper lip. She was immediately transferred to surgery, where the on-duty medical staff and invited specialists provided the necessary medical assistance. Given the complexity of the injury and after consulting with the relevant senior specialists, it was deemed unfeasible to save the injured limb, and a decision was made to amputate due to the complications of the injury. A final amputation of the right upper limb was performed, surgical treatment of the wound was carried out, bleeding was halted, and a stump was formed. A maxillofacial surgeon performed the primary surgical treatment of the upper jaw and upper lip wounds, along with treatment for the burns. The patient has been moved to the intensive care unit. Her condition is assessed as severely stable, and she continues to receive necessary medical care. Earlier, it was reported that at 20:22, the Lori Regional Crisis Management Center received a report of an explosion in one of the houses on Street 35 near the Arjout station, related to a heating system explosion without the outbreak of fire; there is one injured. It was revealed that the explosion was caused by a homemade gas boiler, again without a fire outbreak. Rescuers approached the victim, A. M. (born 1971), and transported her by ambulance. The injured was hospitalized at the Vanadzor Medical Center, where doctors assessed her health condition as serious.
