Take Decisive Steps to Ensure Azerbaijan Complies with ECtHR Requirements: Armenia's Call to the Council of Europe

Arman Khachaturyan, Armenia's permanent representative to the Council of Europe, has urged the Committee of Ministers to take decisive steps to ensure that Baku complies with the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) recommendations.

During a meeting of deputy ministers, Ambassador Khachaturyan noted that Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin corridor has led to severe humanitarian consequences for Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia calls on the Committee of Ministers to take decisive actions to ensure that Azerbaijan adheres to the interim measures indicated by the ECtHR.

At the end of December, Armenia presented two demands: to open the corridor and to ensure safe passage for severely ill individuals and those stranded en route. The ECtHR only granted the second demand, obligating Azerbaijan to allow the passage of the critically ill and those unable to reach their destination through the Lachin corridor as part of interim measures on December 21.
