Absurdity: Zakharova on Ukraine Declaring Cheburashka an 'Occupant'

Ukraine, by inciting repressions against everything Russian, has reached absurdity by declaring Cheburashka an 'occupant', stated Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry. Her response was disclosed by the Russian Foreign Ministry's website.

‘... it has reached the point of absurdity. In Ukraine, Cheburashka, the cartoon character, has been declared an 'occupant'. It is clear that this is connected to the genuine interest of Ukrainian children in the eponymous artistic film... but Kyiv, out of fear of retribution, has even banned attempts to watch it in the country,’ the diplomat expressed her opinion.

Since the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Russian culture has faced persecution in the West. Lectures on Dostoevsky have been canceled in Italy, and the repertoires of theaters in Poland have erased works by Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky, and Chekhov.

Previously, it was reported that against the backdrop of the successful distribution of the 'Cheburashka' film in Russia, posters surfaced in Kyiv's schools where the main character of Eduard Uspensky's story is labeled as an 'occupant'.
