21 People Were Inside, 14 Found Lying on Beds: Arsen Saroyan

In a tragic incident in Gegharkunik, 14 out of 15 soldiers who lost their lives were found lying on their beds. This was announced by Colonel Arsen Saroyan of the Ministry of Emergency Situations during a broadcast of Public Television's 'Public Discussion'.

'Mainly, the hallway was burned, so the soldiers tried to collapse the wall from the other side to assist the soldiers trapped inside. There were 21 people inside, of which 14 were found lying on their beds. Before the rescuers arrived, 6 people managed to escape from the burning building, three of whom were taken to the hospital. I presume that 14 of the fallen 15 servicemen died of smoke inhalation, they didn’t even have time to get up from their beds,' he noted.
