Nearly 17,000 People Interrogated: Kyaramyan on Investigating the Circumstances of the 44-Day War

During the 44-day war, a comprehensive investigation into the crimes that took place has been underway. This was announced by the head of the Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, during a live broadcast.

“We are conducting investigations at the division level down to the squad level, and from the corps level down to sometimes the platoon level. Our main goal is to fully uncover the reasons for our defeat in the war as well as the individuals who contributed to it,” Kyaramyan stated.

According to him, at least 17,000 individuals have been interrogated in these cases, which indicates the unprecedented scale of the investigation. “We can conditionally divide the investigation into two parts: criminal cases against officers and those involving regular personnel. Accordingly, we are conducting separate investigations for the criminal cases related to the 10th and 18th divisions, and the case concerning the fall of Shushi is being investigated separately. We also have separate investigations for the incidents of October 7-8, and we possess distinct criminal cases related to certain pre-war issues, as well as cases regarding the mobilization that took place before and during the war,” he noted.

The official indicated that ultimately there will be a comprehensive picture. “There are situations that have been clarified and are awaiting resolution, but they are not being disclosed due to the tactics of the investigation,” he added.

Referring to the criminal cases opened against former commanders of the Artsakh Ministry of Defense, Mikhail Arzumanyan and Jalal Harutyunyan, Kyaramyan mentioned that the nature of the accusations has not changed, and the preliminary investigation is nearing completion with several episodes. “We have criminal cases opened regarding the 44-day war, as well as numerous crimes committed by Azerbaijan during the aggression of May last year and September. All circumstances have been documented and are being used on international platforms. The Investigative Committee has identified over 300 individuals who participated in the 44-day war as part of 12 terrorist groups on the enemy's side. All of them are currently under international search,” the head of the Investigative Committee reported.
