Clothing Imported under the Guise of Mandarins in Armenia

Clothing Imported under the Guise of Mandarins in Armenia

The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has revealed a new case of importing goods into Armenia under the guise of mandarin oranges. On December 16, the Armenian Control Chamber (ACC) conducted investigations based on reports of certain organizations registered in Armenia that evaded customs regulations.

Particularly, on November 11, two different organizations imported goods (according to documents, mandarins) into Armenia through one of the border crossing points using two different vehicles. During customs control, the first vehicle was subjected to X-ray inspection, where no violations were recorded.

Afterward, the documents of the second organization were presented for customs control, and it was decided to also subject the second vehicle to X-ray inspection. However, the investigation conducted by the relevant divisions of the Armenian ACC revealed that the license plates of the second vehicle had been falsified and placed on the first vehicle, which was resubmitted to customs authorities for X-ray control. As a result, no violations were detected again. Thus, the vehicle loaded with clothing escaped customs scrutiny through the forgery of license plates.

Information about this incident has been forwarded to the National Security Service of Armenia.
