France Cannot Accept the Permanent Threat to 120,000 Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh: Libération
France cannot accept the permanent threat hanging over the 120,000 Armenians of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the newspaper Libération.
The predominantly Armenian-populated Republic of Artsakh has fallen victim to a blockade organized by the regime in Baku, which is gradually suffocating it. The mayors of Paris, Lyon, and Marseille are urging France and the European Union to respond as quickly as possible by providing a support action plan.
On Monday, December 12, Azerbaijan's militaristic policy toward the Republic of Artsakh took a new turn with the closure of the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia organized by Baku. Until Friday morning, Azerbaijan accompanied this blockade by stopping gas supplies to Nagorno-Karabakh, thereby demonstrating its desire to suffocate the small landlocked republic in the South Caucasus.
Fortunately, the worst has been avoided thanks to the intervention of Western countries, which compelled Baku to restore supplies.
However, the situation remains unbearable, and France cannot accept the permanent threat that weighs on the 120,000 Armenians of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, a part of whose territory is now under Azerbaijani occupation. France cannot leave them to a dictator like Ilham Aliyev, who has been pursuing a policy of racial hatred against them for two decades.
