Commander Embezzles Fuel Coupons for One Year: Prosecutor's Office

The commander of military unit N of the Ministry of Defense, S.E., used his official position to embezzle fuel coupons worth approximately 2,441,985 AMD over the course of one year. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.

Specifically, it has been determined that from January 2021 to January 2022, while appointed as the commander of military unit N by the Minister of Defense's order in 2016, S.E. fraudulently took away and embezzled 4,515 liters of AI-92 gasoline and 3,710 liters of diesel fuel coupons assigned to the military unit. He did this without any documentation and with the intent to embezzle a large sum, taking them outside the military unit’s property fund. Some of the embezzled coupons were used to pay rent for an apartment, while others were sold, causing a significant financial loss to the state of 2,441,985 AMD.

This was confirmed by the conviction of the Anti-Corruption Court on November 16, 2022 (during the investigation, the commander admitted full guilt regarding the charges, provided a confession, expressed remorse for his actions, and reimbursed the state in the amount of 2,442,000 AMD).

The supervising prosecutor has advised the Ministry of Defense to consider the appropriateness of the military commander’s further service.
