Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized proponents of the rejection of Russian culture, calling them "not so smart." He made this statement during the opening of a theater reconstruction in Chita, which he attended via video link.

According to life.ru, he stated, "Our culture is canceled by stupid people, and we not only do not cancel anything, but we also bring humanitarian ideas implemented in these works from the best examples of other countries. We are smart, while those who reject our culture are not so smart."
