Putin and Aliyev Discuss Current Issues in Phone Call
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which the implementation of tripartite agreements between Moscow, Baku, and Yerevan was discussed, the Kremlin's press service reported.
"Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin had a phone call with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev," the statement said.
It was noted that Putin and Aliyev discussed the practical steps to implement the entire package of tripartite agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, emphasizing the practical issues of unblocking transport and economic ties in the region.
Recall that a few days ago, a Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Security Council meeting took place in Yerevan, attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
It should also be mentioned that on that day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not sign the CSTO declaration, explaining that the documents are subject to refinement.
"Unfortunately, we did not manage to reach a consensus on two very important documents, but I also want to say that there was a very open and candid discussion, and those two documents have been sent for refinement. Despite the fact that the CSTO council declaration was not adopted, meaning we did not sign the declaration, the decision regarding the CSTO's response to the escalation on September 13 was not adopted again due to our refusal to sign, but I still want to say that I view the discussion positively and I consider the bilateral discussions with the Russian Federation to be positive, and I hope that the agreements reached will be implemented as swiftly as possible," Pashinyan noted.
